Walt Disney World Trips Should Be Planned!

If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World, don't let making hotel reservations be the end of your planning. You must consider: do you also want to visit any other Orlando attractions? Will you rent a car, and if so, will you do it from an Orlando Airport location (for the length of your stay) or will you rent it at Walt Disney World? Will you dine at any of Disney's fine dining restaurants in the Theme Parks, or will you eat the fast food along the way? Will you take any special tours that Disney offers? Will you hit any of the Water Parks (Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach)? Will you want to park-hop, or will you be content doing one park per day? What can you do for fun that's free (or cheap)? Well, stick around here, because on this blog that is exactly what I ponder and explore!

  1. Disney has made it enticing to not rent a car and let them drive you around during your stay, but in my opinion it's not the best plan if you can afford a car. (Cars in Orlando are relatively cheap.)

First getting from the airport to the hotel. Disney does an outstanding job of getting thousands of guests every day from the airport to the hotel and back. But they are transporting thousands of guests. If you arrive during a busy time of the day, you might wait an hour or more just to get on a bus. Then, you might have to go to a couple of resorts before you arrive at yours.

Then when you get to Disney World, the buses run fairly often, and get from the hotels to the parks pretty well. But going from hotel to hotel can be a challenge. Buses run about every 30 minutes at the Deluxe resorts, so if you miss one it will be a while until the next one arrives.

All in all, it's just move convenient to have a car at Disney World.

  2. The last time I went to Walt Disney World, I decided not to rent a car (at first), but to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride on Disney's Magical Express to my hotel, which was The Boardwalk. After a few days with no car (which was OK- I made use of the Disney buses and some of the boat transportation) I decided to rent a car for one day at WDW, which was very easy! I even got Disney Vacation Club discount on the rental from National Rent-A-Car!
